When you work in the lagoon of Venice, you must relate with a context devoid of comparisons, an unique site where the nature mixes oneself with the man in an extreme integration. In this situation, the orizontality of the water and the profiles of the buildings are the important signs for the progress of the project. The Lido looks venice and Venice extend oneself toward Lido across a constant dialog with mutual visions. The project of S.M. Elisabeth terminal enters in this delicate context, where in an unique center we will see the access to sub-lagoon way, the landing of ferries and the bus transport system. The intent of the project is to concentrate the subterranean, aqueos and terrestrial transport. When you project a terminal with such specifities, you inevitably put in relation two opposed worlds: the surface of the city, with its differents and daily situations, and the underground, unknown space. The sub-way stations often become no-places, where hasty people walk without stop and without look where they are. The intention of the project is that to put the terminal in the area that it is been the landing of boats and ferries in the history of Lido in front of the church. In this way with the existing buildings the terminal will create a new urban space and in the same time the terminal will offer an unique center of trasports. The project is articulated in three phases: the arrive of the sub-way with its heart of climb, the dig that includes the shop center, and a volume datached from the ground where a restaurant will look forward Venice. The passenger controles the sea, the sky and the earth, he looks where he arrives, he looks what happen under his feets and what attend him. The void joins all the elements, and it is the binder that represents the movement machine. A sort of confusion, of plot seems to disorient who arrive, but every element is positionated with a definite task and a value related to the context.
