The material used to realize the chair is beech wood, but this is not only a material choice, this is the start point for the design topic. The design of leafchair is inspired to the leaf, and more in detail, to the beech leaf. The seat is represented by a leaf portion, a single rectangular strip of plywood in sizes 46 x 210 cm folded and curved to form even on the lateral side the silhouette of the leaf veins. The strip is formed precisely by thin layers of beech wood which overlap to form a single panel of plywood (1,2 cm). The two sides represent the front and back of the leaf, the veins are obtained by cutting the last layer and bringing the cut portion on the rear side and the tone alternating between beech and bleached beech. The essentiality of its lines expresses the economy and simplicity characteristics of production processes. No screw, no added elements: a single line. Its geometry does not require any special formworks, but only 4 thermocurvature points.
