Hotel Missoni, which launched in June 2009, is the first property to be unveiled in this exciting new hotel brand. Combining the unique style of the iconic Italian fashion & interiors house with the expertise of The Rezidor Hotel Group, Hotel Missoni redefines the design hotel. Designed to give guests a true taste of the Missoni lifestyle, Hotel Missoni has fast become one of Edinburgh’s most desirable destinations. Décor: Designed by Creative Director, Rosita Missoni (one of the original founders of the Missoni label) the interiors of Hotel Missoni are bold, forthright and dramatic. The overall colour scheme is a simple, stylish black & white punctuated with brilliant flashes of colour. Rosita has cleverly combined the unmistakable Missoni prints with the work of designers that she personally admires such as Marcel Wandes, Eero Saarinen and Arne Jacobson. Arranged over the 6 floors of the property, guests will discover iconic pieces of design, some of which Rosita has in her own home, such as Hans J Wegner’s Wishbone Chair. Each Hotel Missoni is reflective of its location and as a tribute to the Scottish heritage, Rosita has included pieces by Charles Rennie Mackintosh including his famous Ladderback Chair. The lobby of Hotel Missoni Edinburgh also includes two large mosaic urns, which will become something of a Hotel Missoni trademark. Accommodation: Hotel Missoni Edinburgh offers 136 rooms and suites, some of which enjoy stunning views over the city landmarks and the famous Royal Mile. The rooms continue the palette of black & white seen throughout the property and are animated with bursts of colour. Combining form and function, the accommodation has been carefully designed to meet the needs of today’s modern traveller with linens chosen from the Missoni Home range. Each guest room has an en-suite bathroom that showcases Italian design. Bathrooms feature washbasin, WC and shower with a bench seat, rain shower and handheld shower. Toiletries have been specially created for Hotel Missoni and scented using a Missoni fragrance. In addition to the guest rooms, there are 7 suites ranging in size from 44 sq metres to the 67sq metre, Suite d’Argento. Bar Missoni: Inspired by the Italian tradition of ‘passeggiata’ Bar Missoni is one of the places in Edinburgh to see and be seen. Positioned in the lobby of the hotel on the ground floor, Bar Missoni can host up to 50 people. Meetings/Events: There are three private rooms available for meetings or events, each stylishly designed in keeping with the Missoni interiors. The three rooms vary in size from 28sq metres to 75 sq metres and the largest room can be divided into two adjoining spaces. A fourth space (100 sq metres) is available for use as a breakout area. Spa Missoni: Situated on the second floor, Spa Missoni is the latest addition to the hotel. Adorned in the signature Missoni patterns, the space challenges conventional spa décor, yet manages to create a luxurious and relaxing atmosphere. Hotel Missoni represents a new standard of design hotel that combines the style of the iconic fashion and interiors label with the expertise of one of the world’s leading hotel operators. Spearheaded by Hotel Missoni Creative Director, Rosita creating a distinctive blend of fashion, function, form and service that adds up to a new genre of genuinely luxurious hotels. Edinburgh was the first property to open in 2009. The Hotel Missoni portfolio will see several hotels open or under development within 10 years. Through the worldwide licence agreement concluded with Missoni, Rezidor’s strategy is to grow the Hotel Missoni brand globally, looking at both citycentre and resort opportunities. The initial focus will be towards Europe and the Middle East but will quickly expand to include other markets such as North & South America and Asia.
