The Project is being developed in a traditional rambling estate in the vicinity of downtown Oaxaca City, in a State which draws locals and tourists alike because of its magical quality. Located on Abasolo street, just a few yards from Santo Domingo, the Hotel houses 20 rooms, 5 of which were created with the collaboration of some of the most renowned artists from the State, which are: Francisco Toledo, Rubén Leyva, José Villalobos, Luis Zárate and the Colectivo Frijol Parado (Standing Bean Collective). Each of them created one room individually, in addition to the 15 rooms created by our team. The sculptures and mosaics, as well as the details in the rooms and common areas, were inspired from objects and tools of the State’s folk culture, and have a connection to their skill and craft techniques. Considering that Oaxaca is such a culturally rich City, full of visual experiences and with the presence of the most representative artists of Oaxaca art, our Project bets on a more neutral approach, with no pretensions for competing with such expressions, thus creating a haven for retreat and contemplation. The subtle relationship of the Project with the art, culture and design of the City generates a unique bond with the client.
