Modular Olympics Event Platforms for the 2004 Olympics 2002 in Athens gianluca milesi architecture Project description When we thought at the city of Athens, we thought at the sea, we thought at ancient times, we thought at ancient times, at ships and sails coming from the sea. These (white) ships and sails became later ideas, presences coming from the sea to the land. This was our ideal relation between the city, the past and the present time. The project, answering the specifications of the competition, is a modular system, simple in its conception but complex enough to accomplish both the ‘poetical’ and practical aspect of the idea. The system, allows to propose different situations, in the city and on the sea, relating itself with the environment. The material used in the project are steel (for the structural part) and white painted metal panels; the modules are sandwiches structures hosting the electrical and lighting systems. The dimensions of the single elements allows the transportation on a truck and they can be easily stored. The cost of the single event platforms is variable according to the dimension and the number of elements used.
