concept
This is a project for a loft in Manhattan, developed with DVA architects in New York
An existing mezzanine, irregularly shaped, has been redesigned as an independent structure, detached from the side walls of the apartment.
Conceived as an open space, the mezzanine is closed by a continuous curtain, allowing a condition of privacy and a communication with the space at the same time.
This conditions of privacy and social and visual communication was the idea that leaded the whole project.
The spaces was intended to be a simple spatial composition of few elements, minimally and expressively assembled in the continuity of the space
The material used, concrete, steel and white paint, were in someway “neutral”; strong colors were introduced for the pieces of furniture; graphics were applied to the walls and to the floor.
