S’inserisce con discrezione nel porto di Ferrol l’Edificio De Control Css progettato da Diaz y Diaz Arquitectos.
Commissionato dall’autorità portuale locale al team spagnolo, l’edificio sorge sulla banchina principale del Porto Exterior e consente di monitorare la vita del porto. Dalla sommità della struttura è inoltre possibile osservare l’estuario del fiume Aries.
“Per affrontare la sfida paesaggistica abbiamo individuato un repertorio formale basato su volumi puri, integrati nella geometria del molo ed al contempo segnati da forme ispirate all’architettura navale – spiegano i progettisti”. L’edificio appare quindi come un volume essenziale, poggiato su “pilotis”, dalla pianta triangolare esaltata dalla copertura a sbalzo. La copertura dell’edificio è intesa e fruita terrazza panoramica.
Nella volontà di realizzare un edificio estremamente flessibile in termini funzionali, la comunicazione verticale tra i quattro piani che compongono l’edificio si svolge tutta nello spazio centrale di circolazione, mentre il fronte esterno è lasciato libero. La differenza di quota rispetto al muro della diga viene annullata attraverso un sistema di rampe esterne, dalle quali è possibile raggiungere la copertura dell’edificio.
La “doppia pelle” di facciata è composta all’interno da vetro altamente isolante, l’esterno è invece caratterizzato da un sistema di lame brise soleil con sezione ad ala d’aereo, inserite su un reticolo continuo che consente l’ombreggiamento degli interni e una buona visibilità sul porto. I serramenti vetrati scorrevoli a tutt’altezza consentono inoltre alla luce naturale di raggiungere il cuore dell’edificio.

To meet this landscaping challenge is used a formal repertoire of pure volumetrys, integrated into the geometry of the dam itself and, secondly, they rely on the proper forms of naval architecture. From a functional point of view, the building houses the program uses proposed by the Port Authority, allowing from its upper floors the total perimeter view of the port and the estuary. An external ramp system allows saving the difference in height between the sea wall of the dam and access to the roof.
Consequently, the priority objectives to be attained by the solution adopted are:
a) Uniqueness and representation. The building must become, in the Outer Harbour, a landmark and focus.
b) Functionality and flexibility. Both in the conception of space and structure design and facilities, the aim was versatility and adaptability for future changes as needed.
c) Intelligent building and "high tech " architecture. Provide the latest technologycal innovations, both in materials and facilities, setting an "intelligent building"and placing it within what is known as "high tech" architecture.
d) Economy, Maintenance, Exploitation. Achieve a long-term economic investment based on the construction quality and ease design, reducing maintenance and operation costs.
To achieve those objectives, we have adopted the following criteria basic design:
1. The building as a container.
2. Diaphanous spaces and transparency.
3. Energy efficiency.
