El equipo Sandra Tarruella interioristas al empezar la reforma del restaurante Can Jubany se baso en potenciar la amplitud de los espacios existentes de la antigua masía y en redistribuir los usos para optimizar el espacio y ofrecer nuevos sitios para recepción, salones, barra y salón exterior, así como para ampliar la cocina, punto neurálgico del restaurante.
El espacio interior se unificó con un velo en blanco roto, tanto en paredes como en techos, para ampliar y crear un telón de fondo neutro donde el nuevo mobiliario y elementos cogieran mayor protagonismo. El suelo de madera junto con las carpinterías de roble aporta la calidez. El hierro se abre paso en los nuevos huecos de los muros y construye los nuevos muebles de líneas rectas. El blanco lacado de los muebles auxiliareis de camareros, combinado con cueros curtidos de Vic, visten las paredes rugosas e irregulares y aportan el contraste de lo liso y ordenado.
Los nuevos volúmenes anexados a la casa se presentan como cajas de hierro. La cocina, volumen principal, se adelanta a la fachada principal como una gran ventana que deja ver todos los preparativos. El acceso se produce por una caja de hierro de menor tamaño que se encuentra al final del recorrido por el jardín que rodea la casa sustituyendo el antiguo porche. Des de este nuevo acceso, más oscuro, bajo y cerrado se pasa a los nuevos salones, de gran altura y con vistas al patio. A través de este doble espacio se sube a los comedores. Este es el punto de mayor intervención, donde se ha modificado el forjado y los cerramientos para ampliar, conectar visualmente y permitir disfrutar de un nuevo salón en una zona que hasta ahora solo era de paso. El patio también recupera todo su esplendor al dejar de ser de paso obligatorio para ir al antiguo acceso, a ser un espacio de disfrute y relajación.
When renovating restaurant Can Jubany, the primary aims of Sandra Tarruella’s interior design team were to maximise the existing space in this old farmhouse and to redistribute room functions in order to make the most of the space and create new areas for receptions, dining rooms, a bar and an outdoor dining area, as well as enlarging the kitchen, the very heart of the restaurant.
The interiors were unified with an off-white veil covering both walls and ceilings, to give a larger sense of space and create a neutral backdrop against which the new pieces of furniture and other elements could have a stronger presence. The wooden flooring and oak door and window frames provide warmth. Iron is present in the new openings on the walls and the new pieces of furniture of clean, straight lines. Sideboards combining white lacquer and tanned leather from Vic dress up the rugged, uneven surface of the walls, creating a contrast with the smooth and soft new surface.
The new volumes attached to the house make a stand as contrasting iron boxes. The kitchen – the main volume – protrudes from the front façade like a large window offering a view of the cooking process. The entrance to the restaurant is through a smaller iron box at the end of the path crossing the garden that surrounds the house, replacing the old porch. From this dark and blind new entrance with a low ceiling, one moves into the new hall, with high ceilings and a view to the patio. From this double-height hall, we may move upstairs to the dining rooms. This is part of the house that was most deeply intervened, by modifying the floor slab and outer walls to expand the space, establish visual connections between rooms and create a new dining room where there used to be a circulation area. The patio also recovers its charm by no longer being an obliged transit area towards the old entrance and becoming a relaxed place to be enjoyed.
