Parco della memoria storica e della coscienza civile tra i vincitori 9° ciclo world architecture award

Il parco dovrebbe sorgere sul sito del “Monumento alle vittime di mafia”, opera realizzata in ricordo della Strage di Pizzolungo. Il monumento è come una ferita inferta al terreno che spinge le persone a fermarsi e riflettere. Il progetto è generato dalla volontà di ricordare la strage immaginando la permanenza di tre ferite inferte nel terreno, che con un percorso collegano la stele commemorativa esistente, la terra e il mare. Uno spazio di silenzio scandito dalla brezza marina e da viste verso il mare inquadrate dagli squarci rossi di acciaio corroso, inondate dal nero fumo della pietra lavica, attorniata dal verde delle piante cresciute spontaneamente. Un’immagine semplice, che rende la memoria viva anche grazie un effetto termico di calore dei materiali sotto il sole, che lascia al visitatore la sensazione di entrare dentro qualcosa che è appena accaduto. L’effetto plastico degli elementi bassi dal piano della strada crea un rapporto di identità con il paesaggio siciliano delle montagne, gli elementi sembrano pezzi di roccia presenti lì da sempre. Voragini che danno l’idea di una natura conformata alla violenza dell’uomo sulla terra. Il contrasto tra le case abusive a ridosso e questo piccolo oggetto che difende il paesaggio è un altro fattore di contrasto, volutamente ricercato. Elementi luminosi, fluorescenti, illumineranno il sul muro in lamiera traforata, in memoria di altre stragi di mafia.

The park should be built on the site of the "Monument to the victims of the Mafia", a work created in memory of Pizzolungo massacre.

The monument is like a wound inflicted on the ground that leads people to stop and think. The project is generated by the desire to remember the massacre imagining the permanence of three wounds in the ground, with a path that connects the existing commemorative stele, the land and the sea. A space of silence marked by the sea breeze and having regard to towards the sea framed by red gashes steel corroded, flooded by the black smoke of lava stone, surrounded by green plants grown spontaneously.

A simple image, which makes the living memory thanks also a thermal effect of heat produced from the materials selected under the sun, that it give the visitor the feeling of entering into something that has just happened. The plastic effect of the elements from the plane of the road creates a relationship of identity with the Sicilian landscape of the mountains, the elements look like pieces of rock present there forever. Chasms that give the idea of a nature complied with the violence of man on earth. The contrast between the illegal houses behind and this little object that defends the landscape is another factor contrast, deliberately sought. Lighting elements, fluorescent, light up on the wall in perforated plate, in memory of other massacres of the Mafia.
