Scilla is breathing wind while her eyes turn to admire the body: a sea stripe, a migratory bottleneck, the Viola coast and the rare ecosystems, hills and valleys furrowed by rivers, fiumare, winds conquering the sun. All parts of a single and unique corpus shaped through a pleasant and harmonic contrast. The dorsal, 10km viaducts and tunnels, unmasks a naked “bone structure” artificial and extraneous to the pulsating body. Which interaction? Which integration? Totally inanimate, the load-bearing structure is the spine to be turned to life and remolded. A potential to exploit in a fusion with the surrounding environment. A multifaceted environment of nature, society, motion and energy needing to absorb any intervention through its own conservation and enforcement capacity. The project is a living natural space revealing and preserving itself, a society animated by new activities and enriched land use, an energy system that evaluates, measures and optimizes combined resources.

The dorsal is the connection axis merging coast and inland. Each square inch, full or void, turns to motion. Structure’s and nature’s main elements are integrated and exploited, singularly or in complex circuits. It is a challenging territory perfectly fitting with extreme sports. Street luge, longboard, skateboard, inline skate and dirt surf exploit street inclination. Paragliding and hang-gliding are driven by natural ascending airstreams. Windsurf and kitesurf by the marine breeze. Trekking and walks, mountainbiking and mountainboarding explore the inland network enriched by the construction-site roads. Climbing is on the nude pillars and naked rocks. The minimal additional interventions are the recovery structures for humans and birds. Photovoltaic technology covers all the available south-oriented spaces and the Aeolian is a high potential choice exploiting multi-direction wind power. The project pursues the minimum impact and the maximum environmental risk mitigation
