Un toit (A Shelter) | Atelier du Pont

Located in Paris, the residence welcomes women who are victims of violence. Managed by the FIT associations “Une Femme, Un Toit” and Aurore, it is a temporary accommodation solution, a transitional stage in their journey, so that they can regain their dignity and security before building a new life for themselves.
This residence is above all a landmark, an architecture that fits peacefully into the urban landscape, and whose facades strike a balance between the need for protection in the face of this temporary fragility and the need to once again participate fully in the life of the city.
To translate these prerequisites for a better life into the building's architecture, we designed a contemporary, sustainable building that incorporates the codes of quality Parisian architecture, synonymous with a certain stability.
Designed as a welcoming, secure hostel, it is accessed via a wide porch that provides a gentle transition between the outside world and the intimate.
Large bay windows provide a comfortable opening onto the outside world, while preserving the habitability of the spaces and real privacy for the occupants.
