C01 | Studio Sveva
Milan / Italy / 2023
This 39m² apartment, located in Milan’s vibrant NoLo neighbourhood, offers a compact retreat from busy street life.
The original colourful floor tiles, different in every room, guided the renovation, with all new elements designed to complement them.
With a limited budget, the focus was on smart upgrades and vintage finds. The biggest change was swapping the living room and bedroom: this opened up the living area to the terrace and gave the bedroom a quieter spot.
Custom furniture uses pale green and white laminated wood to visually unify the space and maximise efficiency. In the bedroom, a wardrobe divides the space while letting light through thanks to round cutouts and a built-in desk adds extra storage.
All other furnishings are second-hand and carefully chosen to match the color palette, like the ocher yellow bed-sofa echoing the floor tiles. A hand-painted mural nods to the nearby metro.
The bathroom was fully renovated, with green wall tiles and patterned floors that blend with the rest of the apartment.
