This 42sqm apartment is located in the heart of the Batignolles, a lively, village-like neighborhood in Paris’s 17th arrondissement. The client, a British executive who travels frequently for work, needed a peaceful base in the city, somewhere calm, elegant, and personal.
What started as a light refresh of the entrance and bathroom quickly evolved into a full renovation when the client connected with our initial design proposals. She wanted a space that felt considered and textural, with room to begin collecting original artworks.
We reconfigured the layout to improve flow and functionality, particularly in the entry, which now includes custom joinery that integrates open shelving, a concealed fridge, and built-in storage. The apartment’s palette is intentionally quiet and cohesive: walls, ceilings, and millwork are wrapped in soft colours and a timeless blue with the use of textured paint that unifies the space and creates depth. We chose dark, hexagonal ceramic tiles in the kitchen and bathroom to visually extend the floor plane and contrast with the oak parquet in the living areas.
The overall atmosphere is inspired by minimalist boutique hotels and japandi design: muted, tactile, and serene. Sculptural lighting, textured finishes, and our art curation of pieces by Audrey Noël and Valérie Martinez introduce contrast and layered interest throughout the space. The result is a compact but elevated retreat, designed for slow living and quiet luxury.
