Grün Haus redefines the balance between tranquillity, functionality, and contemporary architectural expression, seamlessly integrating storage solutions while maintaining openness and fluidity. Designed to meet the evolving needs of a modern family, the project harnesses natural light, enhanced by carefully selected materials that diffuse and reflect illumination, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.

Characterised by a minimalist yet impactful spatial composition, the architectural language is defined by a seamless envelope of light oak joinery, fostering visual continuity between bespoke storage solutions and kitchen elements. Subtle detailing, such as V-grooves and concealed handles, refines proportions while maintaining a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. Fluted finishes on structural columns introduce a dynamic interplay of texture, reinforcing verticality and lending the space an air of sophistication. A linear recessed lighting feature extends throughout the home, subtly guiding the eye towards the panoramic views and making the external landscape an integral part of the interior experience. The flooring, finished in warm-toned microcement in a refined cappuccino hue with a slight sheen, harmoniously bounces light throughout the space, creating a seamless foundation for the overall aesthetic.

Designed with modularity and flexibility in mind, Grün Haus optimises spatial adaptability, encouraging social interactions and fluid movement. The breakfast bench’s dual orientation fosters connectivity between activity zones, while the two-way sofa in the living room reinforces a dynamic yet intimate atmosphere. Sculptural seating elements double as functional pieces and art installations, bridging the gap between utility and artistry. The hallway, conceived as an organic tunnel, amplifies space and light through mirrored surfaces, enhancing circulation flow and seamlessly transitioning into the open-plan living area.

A key design focus was framing and highlighting the property’s most remarkable feature—the view. A striking black recessed light fitting serves as a directional guide, subtly leading the user's gaze towards the expansive external scenery, reinforcing the architectural narrative while enhancing the immersive experience of the space. The interplay between light and materiality fosters a sensory experience, where meticulous detailing ensures each component contributes to the refined minimalism that defines the project. High-level shelving with integrated lighting introduces horizontal breaks within the volume, drawing attention to curated decorative elements while adding warmth. Marble provides a refined contrast, a luxurious yet understated statement that complements the overall material palette.

The emotional engagement of the space is deeply linked to the tranquillity achieved through its precise interplay of light, materiality, and technical detailing. The clean canvas enhances the connection to the exterior while providing the perfect backdrop for a meticulously curated artwork, an emotionally resonant piece holding significance for the client, elevating the space with a distinct and personal impact. Timelessness emerges through precise material detailing, with seamless transitions and carefully crafted finishes ensuring the design’s enduring relevance.

The project embraces both passive and active environmental strategies, enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability. Extensive use of natural light reduces reliance on artificial illumination, while the selection of durable, low-impact materials such as light oak joinery and travertine stone supports long-term sustainability. Thermal performance is prioritised through strategic orientation, optimising cross-ventilation to minimise mechanical cooling. Integrated greenery within shelving units enhances air quality and reinforces a biophilic connection, promoting well-being within the living environment.
Challenging conventional residential layouts, Grün Haus reimagines spatial interactions through multifunctionality and architectural lighting. The continuous recessed light feature acts as both a guiding element and a sculptural statement, reinforcing the project’s directional flow.

Externally, the design achieves a striking balance between minimalism and bold statement pieces, with unexpected design moments introduced at strategic intervals. Extensive research and experimental iterations informed the perfect tonality and finish of each material, from custom veneer selections to the precise sheen of the microcement. This meticulous approach ensures an overall harmony while allowing impactful statement pieces, such as the custom quartz elements, to take centre stage. Biophilic touches and strong artistic gestures further reinforce the project’s distinctive identity, creating a refined and immersive architectural experience.
