Haboob House
London / United Kingdom / 2024
Haboob House is a two-bedroom apartment that offers stunning views of the iconic London Thames. The 113 sqm space presented some challenges, including low ceilings, a segregated kitchen and entertaining areas, and tight bedrooms with minimal storage. The goal was to accommodate a traveling family of five while infusing a hotel-like ambiance.
Our first step in unlocking the apartment's potential involved careful spatial planning. To fit three teenagers comfortably, we expanded the second bedroom by an additional 800mm. This enhancement allowed us to incorporate built-in storage, a desk, and three single beds.
By borrowing space from the adjacent dining area, we knew we needed to open up the entertaining area to cleverly invite more light, improve functionality, and enhance flow in the walkways while maximizing the view.
Removing the kitchen's partition wall facilitated this transformation. The use of reflective materials, such as mirrors and glossy cabinetry, enabled light to bounce around the space, creating an illusion of depth.
This seamless design extended into the living area, where a 4.5-meter sofa embraces the supporting wall, overlooking the Thames and encouraging conversation and tranquility.
