In this apartment, architect Jordan Weisberg presents a distinctive interpretation of space, drawing on design notes inspired by the Orient. Situated in a residential tower, the apartment boasts breathtaking views and orientation—framing, in the foreground, the city’s rooftops, and in the background, the sea. The challenge was to redefine boundaries and capture these stunning perspectives. Thoughtful and meticulous, Jordan Weisberg transformed the large, blank, and impersonal floor plan into defined spaces where each family member could find their own. The client sought to differentiate the reception areas from private spaces while incorporating intimate nooks within each zone. The apartment enjoys a dual orientation: north and west. Bedrooms were placed on the north side for privacy, while common areas face west, maximizing the sea views and showcasing the vibrant colors of the sunset. The studio skillfully blended classical and predominantly French design references with subtle Oriental influences. The chosen color palette mirrors the sun’s trajectory, highlighting the warm, unique hues of its setting. Jordan Weisberg adorned the vestibule walls with wooden panels wrapped in varnished woven paper. The living room emerges behind a library that functions as a mashrabiya. This feature extends into the living area and seamlessly leads to the kitchen-dining room, where it transforms into a display cabinet reminiscent of the grand dining rooms of the early 20th century. The living room is dressed in a palette of natural tones accented with pink, beige, red, rust, sienna, and watery blues. In the evening, it glows softly, catching the last rays of sunlight. Nearly all the furniture was designed by Jordan Weisberg, including the striking red travertine coffee table. The Maïm wall sconces and Laïla table lamp, also his creations, add to the room’s serene and harmonious atmosphere. The partition between the living room and dining area features upper glass panels, allowing light to flow through. It also houses a cozy built-in nook with a sofa, inviting moments of daydreaming and wanderlust. A porthole provides a visual connection between the two spaces. In the spacious eat-in kitchen, the palette becomes more vibrant, featuring greens, yellows, and straw tones, evoking the spirit of nearby Provence. On the terrace, a large tiled table adorned with Sicilian lemon motifs complements the indoor Roman travertine table, celebrating Mediterranean art de vivre. In the children’s area, the blue bathroom envelops users in a marine-inspired cocoon. The boy’s jungle-themed room includes a quiet retreat hidden between curtains and the window. Meanwhile, the girl’s room, under a canopy draped with Japanese cherry blossoms, evokes the enchanting world of One Thousand and One Nights. After months of planning, designing, and earning the owners’ trust, Jordan Weisberg delivers yet another cohesive project, seamlessly integrating architecture, interior design, art scenography, and bespoke furniture and lighting into a unified vision. «This may be the project where I see myself the most. I had the privilege of sharing a common vision with the client, who granted me near-complete creative freedom.»
