This renovation project of a Lausanne apartment aims to reveal the historical character of the space while adapting it to contemporary lifestyles. The opening of the living areas now offers a generous perspective of the lake, structured around a wooden column that marks the transition between different zones. This element, both structural and sculptural, interacts with the existing materials and asserts a subtle yet distinct intervention.

The original moldings and parquet floors have been carefully restored, while the bathroom and kitchen have been redesigned with timeless materials, in harmony with the building’s architecture. Each intervention was conceived to respect the soul of the apartment while enhancing its functionality, following an approach that values the existing structure and its inherent qualities.
