Casa Goliana Mérida, is a residence from the middle of the last century, in which a restoration and architectural intervention process was carried out seeking to rescue the traditional values ​​and materials of Yucatecan architecture.

The house has 200 square meters, considering the original structure where the main bedroom, the social area and the services are. The extension to the rear of the property has two additional bedrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the upper floor.

The historic part of the house consists of three bays, where a restoration process was carried out in its structure and in the original carpentry, preserving the existing doors and windows and reincorporating the pasta floors that were in the project but had to be removed and replaced for construction reasons.

The color palette used in the project is predominantly neutral (with the exception of the pasta floors), as can be seen in the white cement and chukum walls and exteriors. The aim was to create a fresh and tropical space through the use of vegetation, furniture and wooden pieces in natural and raw tones, where art would play a leading role in the space.

The main bedroom is located in the first bay of the property, and due to the fact that it is in a corner, it has privileged lighting since it has two sets of double doors and two sets of windows with views to the outside where the carpentry works as a regulator of the passage of light.

The main entrance to the property is located in the second bay, with a small hall and the living room, where a beautiful and colorful wooden piece of furniture has the double function of being a piece of art but also hides the television behind its structure.

The kitchen, in the third bay, has a chukum and granite island that is integrated into the exterior through a large ironwork window that connects to the terrace and is part of the new construction, respecting the proportions of the heights of the first three bays, integrating the use of stone from the region in the floors, using the same format of the interior pasta floors. In this part, in addition to the terrace and a concrete sofa, there is a half bathroom and the laundry area.

In the central patio is the pool that runs through the property among tropical vegetation until reaching the expansion of the project, whose chukum façade has a pure, sober and simple volumetry, which seeks to reinterpret the traditional proportions of Yucatecan architecture where the massif over the opening is predominant. This area has two rooms, one on each level. The one on the ground floor with a privileged view of the pool and a small private garden giving a feeling of spaciousness and freshness. Contrasting with the contemporary reading of the chukum finishes is the property's old stone well that now functions as a planter and together with the original stone wall symbolically unites the past with the present.

Casa Goliana Mérida transmits a feeling of tranquility and comfort, through the use of its materials, colors and textures, creating the perfect environment for relaxation and enjoyment of those who visit it.

Casa Goliana Mérida, es una residencia de mediados del siglo pasado, en la cual se realizó un proceso de restauración e intervención arquitectónica buscando rescatar los valores y materiales tradicionales de la arquitectura yucateca.

La casa cuenta con 200 metros cuadrados, considerando la estructura original que alberga la recámara principal, el área social y los servicios. La ampliación en la parte trasera de la propiedad cuenta con dos habitaciones adicionales, una en planta baja y otra en planta alta.

La parte histórica de la casa consta de tres crujías, donde se llevó a cabo un proceso de restauración en su estructura y en las carpinterías originales, preservando las puertas y ventanas existentes y reincorporando los pisos de pasta que se encontraban en el proyecto pero que se tuvieron que retirar y volver a colocar por cuestiones constructivas.

La paleta de colores utilizada en el proyecto es predominantemente neutra, (con excepción de los pisos de pasta), como se puede apreciar en los muros y los exteriores de cemento blanco y chukum. Se pretendía crear un espacio fresco y tropical mediante el uso de vegetación, muebles y piezas de madera en tonalidades naturales y crudas, donde el arte jugara un papel protagónico en el espacio.

La recámara principal se encuentra en la primera crujía de la propiedad, y que por el hecho de encontrarse en una esquina tiene una iluminación privilegiada ya que cuenta con dos sets de puertas dobles y dos de ventanas con vista al exterior donde las carpinterías fungen como regulador del paso de la luz.

En la segunda crujía se sitúa el acceso principal de la propiedad con un pequeño recibidor, y la sala de estar donde un bello y colorido mueble de madera tiene la doble función de ser una pieza de arte pero que igual esconde detrás de su estructura, la televisión.

La cocina, en la tercera crujía cuenta con una isla de chukum y granito que se integra al exterior por medio de un gran ventanal de herrería que se conecta a la terraza y que forma parte de la construcción nueva, respetando las proporciones de las alturas de las tres primeras crujías integrando el uso de piedra de la región en los pisos, utilizando el mismo formato de los pisos de pasta del interior, en esta parte se encuentra además de la terraza y un sofá de concreto el medio baño y el área de lavado.

En el patio central se encuentra la alberca que recorre la propiedad entre vegetación tropical hasta llegar a la ampliación del proyecto, cuya fachada de chukum cuenta con una volumetría pura, sobria y sencilla, misma que busca reinterpretar las proporciones tradicionales de la arquitectura yucateca donde el macizo sobre el vano es predominante. Esta área alberga dos habitaciones, una en cada nivel. La de la planta baja con una vista privilegiada a la alberca y a un pequeño jardín privado dando una sensación de amplitud y frescura. Contrastando con le lectura contemporánea de los acabados de chukum se encuentra el antiguo pozo de piedra de la propiedad que ahora funciona como una jardinera y que junto con el muro original de piedra unen simbólicamente el pasado con el presente.

Casa Goliana Mérida transmite una sensación de tranquilidad y confort, mediante el uso de sus materiales, colores y texturas, creando el ambiente perfecto para la relajación y el disfrute de quien la visite.
