The project by Parisotto+Formenton Architetti has been conceived to highlight the most peculiar features of the existing building: a 1970s brutalist architecture with exposed concrete structures and an interesting external cladding in local pinkish stone. The former building has been fully restored and the new extension marks a contrast with its contemporary architecture characterized by wide glazing and wooden sunscreens.

The whole concept aims to enhance the park around the resort, with some existing big trees that have been preserved and new greenery that create a green oasis closed to the sea, where the architecture is in a well-balanced relationship with nature. All rooms feature external terraces with a view to let guests enjoy the mild climate of the region all year round.

The interiors have a contemporary yet timeless cut, including many masterpieces of modern and contemporary design, local “cementine” flooring and custom designed lamps, fixtures and textile works (rugs and upholstery).

The general atmosphere is embracing and welcoming, celebrating the slow living lifestyle of the riviera.
On the ground floor, the large open space that houses the lobby and the bar is in direct contact with the outside, offering a privileged view of the park through its fully glazed surfaces and the small volume that projects from the reception above the swimming pool; greenery is also a key element a large plant emerges from the floor below towards the lobby through the double-height winter garden that connects the ground floor with the Spa.

The architectural shell of this environment is characterized by the horizontal surface of the floor - in resin with a carpet in local cementine tiles - the pillars in beton brut, while on the ceiling we find the most characterizing aspect: the cladding in Douglas wooden slats and the portion with concrete lamellas that from the entrance guide the steps and the gaze towards the garden.
The restaurant accentuate the image of an architecture with a strongly Mediterranean personality (underlined by the local cementine carpet, the reed ceiling...) with a character that almost recalls a certain tropicalist brutalism and where plants are once again an alive, vibrant element. The large windows, as throughout the whole ground floor, give great visibility and a sense of connection and integration between the internal rooms and the green terraces where guests can eat en plain air.

The rooms and suites stand out for their essential luxury made of neutral-warm colors where the designers add the red accents of the woods (douglas) and - different on the various floors - the textile elements of the upholstered furniture and carpets and tapestries designed by cc-tapis with exclusive designs for Il Capitolo. Each room has a balcony or terrace to offer the experience of outdoor relaxation overlooking the garden and, for some rooms, a sea view. The rooms located in the new volume are characterized by large glass surfaces, shielded by wooden sunshades which discreetly let the luxuriance of the gentle Ligurian landscape enter inside.

The renovation works have created large spaces on basement dedicated to well-being activities: the spa relates to the garden thanks to the swimming pool which continues outside and extends towards the park which slopes down into terraces towards the water; the gym - entirely covered in wood- interacts with the greenery, opening towards the internal patio, from which you can reach the garden and which acts as a connecting hinge among all the areas on this floor.

The surrounding park, the true added value of the resort, was mostly preserved and integrated during the construction phase with the planting of new green and flowering plants, favoring those most suited to the mild local climate. The protagonist is the large camphor, around which one of the wooden terraces dedicated to relaxation and conviviality was built, connected by passages and stairways to the other terraces at different levels that are arranged around the hotel building. Pedestrian paths through the greenery lead to the discovery of the various corners of the park, the car park and the events area: an independent and essential volume located in the garden and completed by a dedicated terrace.
