A couple in their 50s, who after a decade of living in their beloved apartment in Givat Shmuel, Israel, felt that despite its many advantages, it didn't quite meet their exact needs. For this purpose, they turned to the team at 'Halel Architecture and Interior Design,' who managed to create for them and their children an organized and calming living environment, with minimal structural changes and maximum attention to every detail. Architect Shira Muskal, one of the owners of the firm, shares the work process and the choices made all the way to the final result.

The couple purchased the apartment shortly after the building was inhabited about a decade ago, when they also made minor changes to it. Over the years, they made sure to keep it well-maintained, and yet, something in the existing configuration prevented them from having the sense of belonging and comfort that we all crave—an apartment that would be a home for them in every sense of the word.

"For quite some time, they debated whether to leave the apartment they love for another and at the same time explored the option of moving to a private house, but the sense of community that characterizes the area ultimately tipped the scales and they chose to upgrade the property in a way that would finally meet all the requirements and needs," recalls Muskal.
