For the first time, Viaene has brought his signature hand-sculpting techniques into the realm of interior design. In a newly completed home near Ghent, Viaene, known for his deep understanding of materials, has introduced a unique approach that plays with light and shadow through his trademark "perfect imperfection."

Originally developed for his "Floating Islands" table designs, Viaene’s sculpting technique features a waved surface that creates a dynamic interaction with natural light. This meticulous hand-crafting process is now at the heart of the home’s interior, reflected in the finishing of the kitchen island, master bathroom cabinet, light sculptures, and cloakroom.

Additionally, Viaene’s vision extends to the home’s staircase and hallway, where his design fosters a calming, wavy atmosphere, offering a sense of relaxation and fluidity for the inhabitants – a family with three teenage sons.

An undeniable focal point of the design is the giant tree in the garden, which not only provides welcome shade during the summer but also frames the house with a beautiful view throughout the year, enhancing the connection between the home and its natural surroundings. This project marks a new chapter in Viaene’s work, showcasing the fusion of craftsmanship and innovation, and highlights his commitment to elevating interior spaces through artistic expression.
