Preserving the past, embracing the present.

Situated within a 1930s construction, this Treviso apartment has undergone a meticulous renovation that harmonises its modest exterior with the indulgent interior features of a bourgeois abode. The original structure, distinguished by lofty ceilings, authentic stucco work, and embellished doors, constituted a historical cornerstone that the renovation aimed to reverence and elevate.

The design approach preserved the apartment’s original configuration, defined by a central corridor
that symmetrically divides the space. While the layout was subtly adapted to accommodate
contemporary living requirements, these adjustments were made with minimal intervention, adhering to the principle of preserving as many original elements as possible. The restructuring, therefore, did not seek to undermine the building’s inherent character but rather to enhance it in
measured ways, fully respecting its architectural heritage.

The original three-bedroom configuration was transformed into a spacious master suite with a
dedicated dressing area, an expanded living space with an integrated study and a separate lounge.
The kitchen and additional service bathroom were retained in their original locations to preserve the functional essence of the property.

Colour in this renovation transcends its decorative function, becoming an essential element that
identifies and defines each space. Entire rooms, including walls and ceilings, have been enveloped incarefully selected tones, creating a unified and immersive atmosphere. The strategic utilisation ofcolour distinctly characterises different areas of the apartment while upholding a harmonious overalldesign.

In the kitchen, Palladio Moro - a mix of quartz and Carrara marble - was used to replicate the
historical Palladian marble flooring. The original terrazzo flooring, concealed beneath numerous
layers added over the years, proved irreparable. Nonetheless, the endeavour was centred on
emulating the enduring aesthetic of the historical flooring through contemporary materials and
methodologies. Fresh oak planks, arranged in an Italian herringbone pattern, mirror the original
design while providing refinement and resilience suited to present-day lifestyles.
This renovation reflects a delicate balance of past and present, preserving the original essence of theapartment while adapting it to meet contemporary needs.

The result is a refined and timeless living space that honours its historical roots while fully embracing the demands of modern life.
