ENGLISH:

The house was bought by a young couple that wanted to have a sophisticated house in the center of Madrid and when Angela first saw the house thought it was the one for them. It is located in an old, traditional building from the 1910s with high ceilings and balconies that bring in the bright light of Madrid. Moreover, the original structure was very flexible, so they were able to completely change the house distribution and adapt it to contemporary needs. The entire home was conceived as a single space with minimal separations. The day and night areas were clearly defined, creating a spacious common area that integrates the living room, kitchen, and dining room.

The oak wood paneling acts as a unifying element throughout the home, extending from the entryway to the kitchen bar. Similarly, the checkered flooring is a recurring feature across the entire house.

Moreover, the studio aimed to restore the property to its full splendor incorporating impressive plaster moldings on the ceilings and walls. These, combined with large mirrors, emphasize the ceiling height and provide a highly refined aesthetic.

Since there is only one bathroom, it was decided not to integrate it into the bedroom to allow guests to access it without entering the private area. However, sliding wooden doors were installed, running from floor to ceiling, which remain hidden when open, creating the impression that the bathroom is part of the bedroom, like a spacious suite.

What’s special from this house is that despite having a small house, the result is a beautiful and original apartment thanks to the noble materials used, open spaces and a pinch of creativity.
