The apartment is located in a residential complex on the outskirts of Milan, nestled in a charming private park. The building dates back to the 1970s and is characterized by its typical klinker cladding. The clients are a young family who enjoy hosting friends and cooking.

The wall between the kitchen and living room was removed to enhance natural light and allow for a view of the park from both spaces. In its place, a full-height bookshelf was installed as a functional element that separates the two spaces while keeping them visually connected at the sides. This creation of a fluid and flexible domestic space allows the family to use the environment in multiple ways and move freely within it.

The home features several functional spaces concealed within lacquered cabinetry in shades of blue and light blue. Behind the doors of the entryway cabinetry, a spacious walk-in closet for clothing storage has been organized. The blue volume leading to the sleeping area is double-sided, serving the corridor on one side while housing the kitchen columns on the other. A full-height sliding door is integrated into the cabinetry, dividing the two areas of the apartment.
During the renovation, the existing parquet flooring was preserved, with new parquet added in rooms where it was missing, such as the bedrooms and kitchen, to create a uniform flooring throughout the home.
The fixed cabinetry is defined by colorful volumes, while the wooden kitchen adds a pleasant sense of warmth and texture.

L’appartamento è situato in un complesso residenziale alle porte di Milano, immerso in un suggestivo parco privato. L’edificio risale agli anni ‘70 ed è caratterizzato da un tipico rivestimento in klinker.

I committenti sono una giovane famiglia che ama ospitare amici e cucinare.
Tra cucina e soggiorno è stato rimosso il muro per garantire una maggiore illuminazione naturale dello spazio e favorire la vista sul parco da entrambi gli ambienti. Al suo posto è stata inserita una libreria a tutta altezza, come elemento funzionale che pur separando i due spazi, li mantiene collegati ai lati. La creazione di uno spazio domestico fluido e flessibile permette alla famiglia molteplici usi dell’ambiente e un movimento libero al suo interno.

L’abitazione è dotata di molteplici spazi funzionali celati dai volumi delle armadiature laccate nei toni del blu e dell’azzurro. Dietro le ante dell’armadiatura all’ingresso è stata organizzata un’ampia cabina armadio per il guardaroba. Il volume blu che accompagna alla zona notte è bifacciale e permette da un lato di servire il corridoio e dal lato opposto di ospitare le colonne della cucina. Una porta scorrevole a tutta altezza è integrata nell’armadio, a divisione delle due zone dell’appartamento.

Nella ristrutturazione è stato preservato il parquet esistente aggiungendone di nuovo negli ambienti che ne erano sprovvisti, come le camere da letto e la cucina, in modo da creare una pavimentazione uniforme in tutta l’abitazione. Le armadiature fisse sono definite dai volumi colorati, mentre la cucina in legno aggiunge una piacevole sensazione di calore e matericità.
