Xangri-lá / Brazil / 2021
This residence, set on the northern coastline of Rio Grande do Sul, emerges from a design that emphasizes a seamless connection between its interior and exterior spaces. The architectural approach centers on maximizing natural light, employing a refined balance of concrete and wood to create a warm, inviting, and functional environment.
The layout of the house fosters an organic flow between the various living areas, with expansive openings that visually and physically link the social zones to the pool, making this outdoor space the heart of family interaction. The integration of the gourmet area with the pool was carefully considered to enhance the experience of living, where the enjoyment of food and the peaceful ambiance of the outdoors come together in harmony.
The relationship between the facades of the house and the site’s geometry results in dynamic, unexpected angles that define the project. This thoughtful articulation also promotes natural ventilation, ensuring comfort throughout the space. The materials—wood and concrete—work in tandem, creating a dialogue that blends modernity with warmth. The lighting design accentuates the architecture’s forms and textures, shifting the atmosphere from day to night and establishing a welcoming space for evening gatherings.
This project goes beyond celebrating contemporary architecture; it fosters a deep connection with its surroundings. Every detail has been carefully crafted to enhance the residents quality of life, making the home a true sanctuary along the beautiful coastline of Rio Grande do Sul.
