In October this year, the inauguration of Wewood's first store in Lisbon signalled an important moment in the evolution of a brand that, has distinguished itself for its ability to adapt since 2012.
This is a strategic step for the brand to get even closer to the international audience that is increasingly attracted to Lisbon. The location, close to the prestigious Avenida da Liberdade, reflects the quality and design that Wewood offers. It also represents an opportunity to show that Portuguese furniture can compete with the biggest global brands in terms of innovation and quality.
The space was designed by creative director Joana Marcelino and reflects the harmony between Lisbon's Pombaline architecture and Wewood's values. One of the most striking elements of the design is an architectural serpent-like structure that runs through the entire space, serving as a support for the furniture and which can change colour and texture according to the collections and the seasons.
What sets Wewood apart from other brands is its exclusive use of solid wood. The production process is optimised through the use of modern equipment, but the assembly and final details are always carried out by artisans, guaranteeing the superior quality of the products.
The official inauguration of the store in Lisbon was also the occasion for the launch of the Botero armchair — a piece combining solid wood and natural leather - a first-time collaboration with the Brazilian designer Fabricio Roncca.
