The main objective of this project Vivienda Abando was to restructure the internal circulation in an intuitive and practical way, with a focus on daily comfort. The house has been reorganized therefore into three functional and independent areas: the day area, the night area and the work area, achieving a clear separation of activities without compromising the overall aesthetic cohesion.

Once the new distribution was resolved, the two biggest challenges we encountered in this assignment were the long hallway that was formed and the lighting on the central platform where the kitchen and dining room are located.

To solve the first problem, the hallway was divided into two completely different areas. The first part was integrated as a corridor of the kitchen platform with the same aesthetics. The second part, which leads to the night area, was made dynamic with floor and wall lighting. Both areas are thus separated both aesthetically and physically by a gate that makes them independent.

To solve the second challenge, the light in the central platform, the layout was opened to let in natural light from the large window in the living room and a skylight was also created to provide a feeling of natural lighting.

After the renovation, the central block of the house became the heart of the house, with a personality that radiates to the rest of the house.

To give greater relevance to this central core and differentiate it, it was slightly raised from the rest. We wanted an open and connected layout throughout the day area but we also sought to differentiate and highlight the different spaces.

In order to make the different areas of the day area independent, we used glass with textiles inside that differentiate and make the spaces independent, but in a subtle way allowing the passage of light and movement.

The comprehensive renovation of the house allowed us not only to adapt the new layout to the needs of the clients and completely renew its aesthetics but also to change the dynamics of the family members within it.
