House Luigi Ganzerli | Carmine Abate

The traditional codes of the dwelling, reach the limits of fantasy in this intervention with a strong impact, where research and attention to detail is rhythmic between and, from the parts.

If the house is the name of those who live there, this Neapolitan house has at least two. That of the owner and that of those who conceived, designed and built it. In Naples, a few kilometers from the airport, the "melting pot" needs of the client fit perfectly with the constant research of the young architect Carmine Abate, whose greedy vision of this and that, becomes juxtaposition, contamination, gaudence of materials, which starts from a singular organization of space. A plan marked by a long pendulum that balances environments and materials, passions and shapes, needs and visions.

The Agora

The characteristic element of the plan is a long corridor, about thirteen meters, which culminates in the agora of the house. The latter is a circular antechamber composed of sixteen sliding panels in solid oak, throughwhich you can access the different rooms.

The strain of  resin grè, si grafts strongly into the wood of the corridor and the agora, with the effect of a carpet. On the ceiling, stabilized moss with inserts of pink pepper and black pepper, emphasize the circular shape of the environment.  Warm materials and bright colors, join the soft Missoni fabrics for poufs. The floor releaseenhances the quality of the wood and also makes it pleasant to barefoot contact the gré stump, which being trattato and resinated, is as velvety. The knotted oak of the floor was selected and purchased in Bolzano, where the client has been staying in a hotel room for more than ten years.

This domestic agora becomes a space for sharing and multiple activities, and allows access to the bedroom, the bathroom, a computer station and, finally, a walk-in closet.

A colonial bedroom and a bathroom "on the rockies"

The colonial flavor of the bedroom and thebathroom reveal the dual nature of those who live there. On the one hand the bathroom seems to evoke the rock and the mountain, majestic and noble, on the other the bedroom is a microworld overseas, seen from the eyes of a migratory bird, which you can find in the yard as in the tropics.

The wallpaper behind the bed is misha's, and is framed in a frame as if it were a painting. The bunches of grapes were deliberately chosen by the architect of an unnatural color, to emphasize the dreamlike side of the environment.

The Letto Molteni as the bedside table, the mirror B & B, wallpaper Misha Wisteria, suspension Gubi. On the walls water-based enamel Sikkens, as well as the black perimeter border.

The living area is an open space with a continuous visual and physical permeability between inside and outside. The three main areas, namely the kitchen, the dining room and the living room, are highlighted by a different flooring for each room.

In the living area, Edra's sofa is resting on a marble carpet with triangles, black marquinia and Carrara white, while the perimetro is in resin gré stump, supplied by Alfa Marmi. Armchair and coffee table by Vitra, bar cabinet by Baxter, Ginori ceramics.

The curtains are Dedar, while from a distance you can seeMisha's par a to Butterflies, framed as if it were a painting in which some of the butterflies are embroidered. Next to it, the gold leaf furniture by Tm Italia. The wallpaper behind the cabinet is by Nobilis. The exterior has been cared for with tropicplants from Brazil and an Australian tree. The rest, however, is all Mediterranean scrub.

The dining area rests on a carpet composed of custom-made wooden slats. The chairs, the table and the sideboard are, instead, by Cassina.  On the ceiling the five lighting fixtures are by Viabizzuno.  Cassina's chairs and table are classics from the Hommage Collection à Pierre Jeanneret collection.

The house is constantly permeable from the inside to the outside, to the vegetation and the pool.

From the outside to the inside the house is a continuum of colors and materials. The exterior is surrounded by hedges and tropical plants, the wall with the yellow zellige, hides the shower.

I codici tradizionali della dimora, raggiungono i limiti della fantasia in questo intervento dal forte impatto, dove la ricerca e la cura dei dettagli è ritmata tra e, dalle parti. 

Se la casa è il nome di chi la abita, questa casa napoletana ne ha almeno due. Quello del proprietario e quello di chi l’ha pensata, progettata e realizzata. A Napoli, a pochi chilometri dall’aeroporto, le esigenze “melting pot” del committente si collimano perfettamente alla ricerca costante del giovane architetto Carmine Abate, la cui visione ingorda di questo e quello, diventa giustapposizione, contaminazione, gaudenza di materiali, che parte da una singolare organizzazione dello spazio. Una planimetria scandita da un lungo pendolo che mette in equilibro ambienti e materiali, passioni e forme, esigenze e visioni.

L'agorà

L’elemento caratterizzante della planimetria è un lungo corridoio, di tredici metri circa, che culmina nell’agorà della casa. Quest’ultima è un’anticamera circolare composta da sedici pannelli scorrevoli in rovere massello, attraverso i quali si accede ai diversi ambienti.

Il ceppo di grè resinato, si innesta con forza nel legno del corridoio e dell’agorà, con l’effetto di un tappeto. A soffitto, muschio stabilizzato con inserti di pepe rosa e pepe nero, enfatizzano la forma circolare dell’ambiente. Materiali caldi e colori luminosi, si uniscono ai morbidi tessuti Missoni per i pouf. Il riscaldamento a pavimento esalta maggiormente la qualità del legno e rende piacevole anche il contatto a piedi nudi del ceppo di gré, che essendo trattato e resinato, risulta come vellutato. Il rovere nodato del pavimento è stato selezionato e acquistato a Bolzano, dove il committente alloggia in una camera d’albergo da più di dieci anni.

Questa domestica agorà diventa uno spazio di condivisione e di molteplici attività, e permette l’accesso alla cameretta, al bagno, ad una postazione computer ed, infine, ad una cabina armadio.

Una camera da letto coloniale e un bagno “on the rockies”

Il sapore coloniale della camera da letto e del relativo bagno, svelano la duplice natura di chi la abita. Da un lato il bagno sembra evocare la roccia e la montagna, maestosa e nobile, dall’altro la camera da letto è un micromondo oltre oceano, visto dagli occhi di un uccello migratore, che puoi trovare in cortile come ai tropici.

Il parato dietro al letto è di Misha, ed è intelaiato in una cornice come se fosse un quadro. I grappi di uva sono stati volutamente scelti dall’architetto di un colore innaturale, per enfatizzare il lato onirico dell’ambiente.

 Il Letto Molteni come il comodino, lo specchio B&B, parato Misha Wisteria, sospensione Gubi. Sulle pareti smalto all’acqua Sikkens, così come il bordino perimetrale nero.

Nella zona living il divano di Edra è poggiato su un tappeto di marmo a triangoli, nero marquinia e bianco Carrara, mentre il perimetro è in ceppo di gré resinato, tutto fornito da Alfa Marmi. Poltrona e tavolino di Vitra, mobile bar di Baxter, ceramiche Ginori.

Le tende sono Dedar, mentre da lontano si vede il parato Butterflies di Misha, incorniciato come se fosse un quadro in cui alcune delle farfalle sono ricamate. Accanto, il mobile in foglia d’oro di Tm Italia. Il parato dietro al mobile è di Nobilis. L’esterno è stato curato con piante tropicali provenienti dal Brasile e un albero australiano. Il resto, invece, è tutta macchia mediterranea

La zona del pranzo è poggiata su un tappeto composto da doghe di legno a misura. Le sedie, il tavolo e la madia sono, invece, di Cassina.  A soffitto i cinque corpi illuminanti sono di Viabizzuno. Le sedie di Cassina ed il tavolo sono dei classici della collezione Collezione Hommage à Pierre Jeanneret.

La casa è costantemente permeabile dall’interno verso l’esterno, verso la vegetazione e la piscina

Dall’esterno verso l’interno la casa è un continuum di colori e materiali. L’esterno è perimetrato da siepi e da piante tropicali, il muro con la zellige gialla, nasconde la doccia.
