This 60m² space is a temporary residence for the owner when returns to Taiwan for business trip. During the early discussions he said:
“⋯Although I might still check-in hotels frequently, I wish to have a simple, white, and light-filled space where I can invite family and friends to gather, and a relaxing bathroom to enjoy…”
The space is hence consisted of two area: the open area, and the bathroom area.
In the open area, a plumbing shaft in the middle is turned into an alcove-bookcase integrated with a 2.5m-long table; they are the central element around which daily functions are organized. While the area is essentially one open space and able to accommodate gathering events, sleeping quarter can be separated by hidden sliding doors to provide privacy.
The bathroom area, includes a main bathroom, a guest washroom, and an entrance, is finished with mineral coating and adorned with selective sculptural-fixtures on focal points. A curvilinear wall defines this area, creates a smooth boundary and ensures ease of passage.
Functions are set according to the window openings, so that every space enjoys natural light; even the washroom in the farthest corner has a slit on the wall to let light in.
