Boasting 283.33 m2 and situated on one of the most exclusive sites on the island, this property offers spectacular views over the Mediterranean.
The reforms on the property have been specifically designed to make the most of its views and accentuate its relationship with its privileged natural surroundings. Whilst still preserving the essence of the original house, modern features have been incorporated to give the property a new lease of life as a contemporary residence. One of the most notable reforms is the sea-facing veranda, which now boasts a roof in the style of a pergola, and a series of large wooden sliding shutters that allow the environment to be adapted in line with weather conditions.
A favourable orientation of spaces and the creation of natural ventilation are always top priority in the designs of Gabriel Montañés, and this project is no exception: the roof has been reconstructed with a new southeast-facing opening to capitalise on natural ventilation – a simple gesture yet a fundamental element of its overall design: “We like the idea of a house that can ‘attune’ itself like a percussion instrument, adapting to the climatic conditions of the moment”, explains Montañés.
The interior layout has been designed to offer seamless continuity between the living room, dining room and kitchen areas, while the bedroom suites are distributed along the front and rear façades, to ensure their inhabitants can enjoy privacy and comfort. The interiors reflect a minimalist, elegant approach, with white walls and flooring in warm shades that harmonise with the exterior landscape. The aluminium joinery with its minimalist profiles helps to compound this seamless connection between interior and exterior. As the studio explains it: “Whenever we work on sites like this with such spectacular views, we feel a duty not to overload the interior. Instead, we try to create environments that are as neutral as possible, to avoid distractions”.
The view from the coast towards the house has also been painstakingly thought out, with the building discreetly integrated into its surroundings to create a space in which indoor and outdoor life blend harmoniously together.
