Park for All | VPS  ARCHITETTI

From military barracks to an abandoned part of the town of Tempio Pausania in northern Sardinia to an inclusive PARK FOR ALL.

The park, designed according to universal design principles for genuine social inclusion and accessibility, officially opened on April 20.

The finished project is the result of a very positive collaboration and participation  process between the design team and the client, the Association of Municipalities of Alta Gallura, and the local population through a service design workshop that kicked off and helped guide the design work.

The park unites urban space around the church, play spaces and sports facilities that respond to different needs of people of all ages with various abilities and disabilities be they physical, sensory or cognitive.

The church was given a dignified exterior space within the park. The running track was transformed into a skate park. The existing sports fields were renovated for contemporary use. The remaining open space was designed for inclusive leisure, child's play and events. A refreshment stand and locker rooms are located at the center in the structure with the oval roof.
