LIBRA is an apartment renovation project by MAP’D Studio, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. The project involved reconfiguring the apartment layout to enhance natural light penetration, particularly around the client's new writing station. This reconfiguration included the removal of six closets with nine doors, creating space and allowing natural light to reach deeper into the interior.

As part of this process, the design concept was inspired by the idea of light filtering through venetian blinds, resulting in a unique architectural feature: the Library shelves were subtly deformed to enable the passage of light. This deformation influenced the adjacent kitchen cabinets, where traces of the shelf patterns were delicately imprinted on the cabinet doors. This harmonious interplay of light and form not only transformed the functional aspects of the space but also added a distinctive artistic touch to the overall design.
