The house, located in the centre of the capital of Alicante, occupies an entire floor of the building with a total of 110 m2. In the centre of the building, a bright but uninteresting inner courtyard organises the space of the property. Prior to the renovation, the house had 6 bedrooms, one bathroom, two fireplaces and an exterior sliding space along the courtyard. After the renovation, there were 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1,000 bookcases, 2 fireplaces, 1 kind of museum and 1 microscope bench.

Letting yourself to be seduced by the interests - both public and secret - of the client, you discover more about their home than any established programmatic approach. Thus, we found fossil collectors, astronauts, Pokemon trainers or 2.16-metre tall human beings.

However, our reality -internal and external- is not defined by a single hobby, profession or concrete physicality, but turns out to be a tangle of sensations, hobbies, whims and manners that seek their spatiality and that can be as ephemeral as the one who takes off or puts on a mask. For their development, sometimes devices are needed, sometimes limited square metres, and sometimes simply a concrete - intangible - atmosphere. In the "Tales from a Thousand and One Nights´ House", the design traces are directed by a multifaceted client with an educated eye and a fine palate. The architecture will be influenced by his cook self and his art collector self, as well as his other selves of the day.

The materialisation of the masks that its owner has accumulated over time, brought to the process by two old friends John Hejduk and Saul Steinberg, make up the narrative of the project. It is the impossibility of showing a single discourse in such a multiple universe in which his whole being lives and feels what pleases and stuns the most. The inhabitant, in his spatial inhabiting, establishes a fetishistic relationship with his objects and specifities that gives rise to as many houses as he needs. The house of the "Thousand and one" houses.
