A new extension and alteration works were proposed on an existing 19th century townhouse, located within the European quarter.

A new extension is proposed to replace existing rear additions, to accommodate more living areas that open onto an existing garden at lower ground level. The proposed additions are contemporary, but use simple geometries to retain and emphasise the existing heritage aesthetic of the house. A steep pitched roof provides the opportunity for a cathedral ceiling to draw abundant natural light into the spaces, and expel snow in winter.

The materials pallette is kept to a minimum using natural, sustainable materials such as timber lining boards inside and out, to help also create a sense of warmth within.
