Designing a residence in the Umbrian countryside offers a unique opportunity to create a space that seamlessly blends with the surrounding environment and celebrates the beauty and the tradition of the region.

The architectural design aimed to merge two houses into one cohesive living space.
In the project, a volume was inserted between the two existing structures having different heights and shapes. This inserted volume acts as a telescope directed towards the surrounding nature, creating a strong dialogue with the natural environment and the interior space.

A fundamental aspect of the design is the central courtyard, around which the main spaces of the living area are articulated, giving each corner of the house a distinctive identity.

The materials moodboard was developed with the goal of creating visual continuity with the surrounding natural environment. The smoked oak flooring provides warmth to the interiors, while the use of textured mortar reminiscent of local stone helps creating a tangible connection with the context.

Lighting, aimed at enhancing the materials and creating different atmospheres depending on the use of the spaces, plays a crucial role in defining the living experience.
Through careful lighting design, efforts were made to emphasize the distinctive features of the house, creating a welcoming and functional environment for its inhabitants.

Overall, the project distinguishes itself for its capacity to merge two separate entities into a harmonious and functional dwelling, in accordance with the surrounding environment and the residents’ needs.
