The apartment is located in the newly built Karpatium Residence complex on the edge of the Carpathian Forest, near Bratislava. The ground floor location of the apartment brings a higher quality of living. The French windows and the appropriate orientation of the flat draw the sun's rays deep into the space, which creates a nice play of light and shadows.

The assignment was to fine-tune the layout of the apartment for a young active family and to bring naturalness and sincerity into the interior.

The structural system of the building is based on prefabricated reinforced concrete ceilings and lime-sand partitions. The cement sandblasted surface of the ceilings has become one of the expressive elements of the interior.

Hand-polished stainless steel on the entrance door, fine-tuned with other stainless-steel elements, turns a standard entrance door into a portal. The inner surface of the door is integrated into the mirror wall.

A linear corridor opens into a living space with a kitchen and dining room. The surface of the frameless door in the gypsum materiality of the walls lightens the corridor and leaves room for a linear strip of light which illuminates the concrete ceiling as the the main detail.

Built-in steel shelves, hand-polished stainless steel kitchen elements in combination with oak minimalist furniture, a dominant ventilation grille and a stainless-steel solitary chest of drawers. Interior elements that add uniqueness to the space in small, handcrafted details.

Gypsum plasters, cement sandblasted ceiling, oiled oak as the chosen material for the floor and furniture, stainless steel elements of air conditioning, furniture and soft earthy colours of textiles, transparent curtains. Together with thoroughly chosen lighting elements, the combination of raw, soft and honest materials creates a pleasant environment for everyday life.
