The client’s wish was to maintain as much of the flat’s Art Nouveau details as possible, to make part of the entrance, which at the time was only considered representative, functional and to adapt it to a more modern style of living.
The design challenge was to create customised spaces in an existing architectural floor plan with such a difficult and complicated geometry.

Our design was based on the desire to follow the diagonals and create spaces through a customised interior that look out onto both the Art Nouveau balcony and the heart of the house, the entrance foyer, which immediately became the connecting element between the different rooms and the point from which, thanks to the mirror panelling, you can catch a glimpse of each room.

The foyer is not only a place of reception but also a place of transition between the different rooms.
The vocation of this space is to use on the floor the materials of the time, such as terrazzo floor, but reinterpreted in a contemporary way through the choice of rational and essential geometries and the introduction of three-dimensional materials and finishes such as brass, raw iron and wood “cannettato” on the walls, which are repeated in essence and colour in the other rooms.

The intention was to bring the concept of intimacy to its most original state through the use of natural materials such as the Soleto stone in the bathroom, in the specially designed washbasin, and textiles such as linen and bouclè wool for the custom-made designed sofa. Finally, the lighting project was conceived in a dual way: a scenic light that creates emotion and a more functional technique.
