The pandemic reshaped our understanding of what we need from our homes. In this period, Lesya Pechenkina, an interior designer, initiated her search for a location to construct a residence that would foster family bonding. During her search, her firm designed a house that fulfilled her family’s requirements. However, she stumbled upon an unfinished two-story dwelling on the market at the eleventh hour and saw the potential to quickly tailor it to her family's vibrant life, bypassing the protracted construction process.

"Our family's active routine, encompassing work, extensive travel, sports, and social events, shaped our approach to designing the interior. Leading a design studio amid a whirlwind of shifting colors and textures, finding a sanctuary for visual peace was imperative," Lesya Pechenkina elucidates. The quest for a home exuding comfort, security, and tranquility steered them towards a minimalist aesthetic enriched with tactile surfaces, authentic materials, and streamlined silhouettes.

The design strategically allocated the entire ground level to a vast communal space to cherish family moments together. This zone amalgamates the entrance, stairway hall, communal wardrobe, living and dining areas, kitchen, terrace, and a multifunctional bathroom with a boiler room, all merging fluidly in an open-plan layout.

Upstairs, the private quarters encompass the master suite complete with individual wardrobes, an office, a bathroom with direct terrace access, and a dedicated children's section with a private bath. An additional office space was seamlessly integrated into the design. Lesya Pechenkina takes special pride in the addition of two outdoor terraces, particularly the ground-floor terrace which serves as an open-air extension of the living area during warmer months.

Envisioning the home's future ambiance, the designer aimed to blend features that elevate her family's happiness and pleasure. The culinary space is adorned with a marble island, while the lounge hosts a vinyl record player, integrated high-end TV audio, and an electronic piano. Panoramic forest scenes greet from the second floor, transforming the master bath into a beloved mini-spa sanctuary for the family.

Uniform decor across all chambers accentuates the cohesive architectural flow, augmented by recessed baseboards and hidden doors. The residence boasts a sophisticated smart home system for tailoring lighting, music, fireplace function, curtain automation, and managing the infrastructure with ease.

"I opted for a serene gray-white palette to facilitate relaxation and rejuvenation, aiming to harmonize the stunning external forest with our home's interior", the project's author comments, The sculptural staircase, reminiscent of a modern art installation with its pronounced lines and strategic illumination, stands out as a fundamental design feature.

Furniture is thoughtfully arranged to maintain an open, bright atmosphere, fostering connectivity between zones without the necessity for wall partitions. Many items were specifically crafted following the designer's blueprints. "Our passion for travel has resulted in a substantial collection of distinctive artifacts and decor from various corners of the globe, adding a personal flair to our space," Lesya Pechenkina remarks.

Yet, the essence of this project lies in its atmosphere. The serene environment, devoid of any unnecessary elements, invites the inhabitants to relish in tranquility, shared joyous moments, and the stimulus for future creative pursuits and adventures.
