As part of the renovation of a typical local half-timbered house, new living space was created for 2 families using sustainable, organic and ecological building materials.

In addition, the interior was reorganised to create separate living units on the ground floor and first floor together with the newly converted attic. The upper flat was accessed via an external staircase in the inner courtyard.

Service rooms, such as toilets and kitchens, were grouped together in a "technical section" across the storeys in the area of the boundary development. This created space for high-quality common rooms facing west and the courtyard.

Recurring materials are wood and clay. They can be found in the form of clay plaster, wooden windows and floors, wooden furniture, the exposed ceiling beams and the visible timber frame in the attic, which was converted into a large living area.

Three generous dormer windows and a south-facing loggia give the new attic an appropriately spacious feel.
