The location in Marbella of the Gómez & Molina jewellery-watch store, with its three façades, is unbeatable. It is across the square from the Alameda Park, at the entrance to the historic center and serves as a background for the sculpture “The Beauty of the Sea”.

Such conditions require a demanding project, both to satisfy the needs of the business and to respond to the questions raised by the premises and its location.

Our proposal is a unitary, integrated treatment of all the elements that make up the façade based on a powerful idea: transforming the image of the premises into an embossed silver jewellery box.

The entire façade is modulated and covered in aluminium foam panels that evoke the embossing of ancient jewellery boxes and chests.

During working hours, the “jewellery box” opens to its clientele, using outward-tilting panels that, when retracted into a “V” shape at the top, function as a sun protection awning for the shop windows.

Outside of working hours, the tilting shutters lower, close and secure the premises, thus achieving the complete “jewellery box” image.

In this way, the development of a single idea allows us to build a strong, recognisable image, adopt the function of an awning and protection against rain during the day and provide a security closure at night.

The lighting, both in the shop windows and in the upper impost, resolves the different episodes of the façade, and works at the service of the same idea.

The construction of a vertical garden on the first floor allows the establishing of a new dialogue with the Alameda Park, providing an organic response to a mineral ground floor.
