This 51 sqm apartment is a perfect demonstration of how even the smallest spaces can be transformed into elegant and functional homes.

As soon as you open the door, you'll be greeted with a bright and elegant space, which is primarily dominated by the colour white. A small niche lined with wood is thoughtfully designed to allow you to empty your pockets and leave your shoes in a vertical module that is barely noticeable.

The luminosity coming from the large glazed area of the room invites you to step inside, and throughout the apartment, there is a chromatic balance with hints of wood elements to create a cosy minimalist space.

The goal was to create a comfortable and functional workspace in a small living room without compromising any of its features. Taking advantage of an existing niche and designing a tailor-made home office that can be closed when the dining table is used, ensuring a nice working area that does not compromise the use of the dining area. A sideboard runs along the room, from the office to the outer space.

The dining area is central and punctuated with the only suspended light element in the entire house. The living area takes advantage of its visual relationship with the arboreal elements outside that filter the impact of the main road artery of the city of Almada.

The kitchen, with its open corner, allows for a smooth transition between the dining and preparation areas. We aimed to create visual contact between the compartments in this house, and the small window between the kitchen and the living room adds a playful touch to the ambience while also serving as a side table next to the sofa. The kitchen follows the same strategy adopted in the social area of the house, where all the furniture is white, and the countertops also have light tones. We deliberately avoided strong contrasts to dilute the presence of fixed elements and furniture, giving the feeling of having a more expansive space.

A white pivoting plan can separate the private room from the entrance and social area if necessary. A vestibule allows you to access the bathroom without entering the bedroom.

The colour palette is maintained throughout the private room, with white being dominant and gently contrasting with the flooring and wooden details that finish off the entrance portico and the back of the headboard. A grey burel upholstered headboard, a traditional Portuguese fabric, is aligned with the palette colour defined for this apartment, ensuring its balance and neutrality.
