Pristine beaches, and uncontaminated natural expanses frame JNcQUOI Beach Club. The new project, testament to Vincent Van Duysen Architect’s aptness to work with nature, is located along the picturesque shores of Praia do Pego in Comporta, one of Europe’s most exclusive beachfront destinations. Far more than a mere dining venue, this Oceanic oasis seamlessly weaves together an architectural statement and the raw splendor of Alentejo, capturing the very essence that makes Comporta so extraordinary.

Upon approaching the structure, a picturesque wooden deck unfurls, leading patrons towards two entities - the Cabana and Restaurant. This captivating entrance frames the vastness of the ocean, where the azure waters stretch from the Arrabida coastline to the picturesque town of Sines. 

VVDA's touch is evident in every facet of the club, from the practical bike parking to the lifeguard structure, beach cabanas, and the meticulously designed furniture, all custom-crafted to perfection. Their influence extends beyond mere architecture; VVDA has painstakingly curated the entire experience, from the mise-en-place to the very ambiance of the place itself.

Drawing inspiration from the local fishermen’s architectural vernacular and the historical context of the site, the compound’s design radiates a sense of simplicity, remaining true to the ethos of Comporta. The delicate integration of the building with its surroundings showcases VVDA’s commitment to preserving the area’s natural beauty.

A restrained palette of materials, consisting of reed, stained wood, and canes, is employed together with soft fabrics serving as an additional layer to soften the building’s presence and provide shade for the perimeter lounging and dining areas.

Upon entering the restaurant, a vibrant interior awaits, in stark contrast to the muted exterior. Wood-clad white walls, caned ceilings, and accents of terracotta and blue hues infuse the space with energy. The restaurant’s layout is simple yet effective, with a spacious interior room featuring a vaulted ceiling and an exterior terrace thoughtfully arranged to offer stunning ocean views to every guest.

VVDA’s meticulous attention to detail extends to all furniture, fixtures, and equipment elements. An elegant yet relaxed atmosphere is created, with base tones reminiscent of the sandy beach and architectural surroundings. These tones are complemented by fabrics in vibrant blue Klein and subtle stripe patterns, adding a touch of coastal charm.

In essence, JNcQUOI Beach Club is VVDA’s interpretation of the Comporta Lifestyle, a symphony of colors and textures that pays homage to the essence of the place. It’s a dining experience like no other, set against the backdrop of an unparalleled location, where every detail is thoughtfully crafted to immerse you in the beauty of Comporta.
