Stone and wood: the protagonists of a magnificent requalification

The architects of Studio FASE AA in Milan have carried out a top-quality building renovation on the edge of a forest filled with larches and fir trees in an authentic mountain location.

The residence that has been renovated and extended is a detached 1960s villa situated in Val Ayas, Valle d’Aosta. Considering the building's position in a green landscape of particular natural beauty, the design choices aimed at making the property an integral part of the surrounding landscape. The mountains, forest and fields unmistakeably determine specific textures: wood and stone - two materials that are fundamental for covering indoor and outdoor settings and represent an ideal bridge between the contemporary project and the building tradition in the mountains. By keeping the original structure, with the exception of some changes to outlines and dimensions of openings, externally the design took shape by reclaiming the proportions of the past, the authenticity of the materials, the crafted solutions, the warmth of the wood and the elegance of the stone through to the smallest finishing details.

The Murogeopietra® covering gives the volume of the structure shape and identity. The designers were able to create a customized mix of stone to convey the random nature of alpine walls, choosing from dozens of models and shades and an endless number of combinations. The professional installation and contrasting mortar application technique contribute to the excellent result.

Internal space has been changed and distributed completely differently from previously, with contemporary shapes and forms combined with the timeless charm of wood coverings, where expertise and excellence bear the signature of by Valente Costruzioni. Typical architectural features, such as the wood shingle roofs and long wooden balconies complete the chalet and evoke immediate serenity. With cultured, expressive and mature communication, Through a mature, cultured and expressive language, the architects have succeeded in combining technique and aesthetics in an elaborate contemporary setting that preserves, transforms and improves the existing ensemble in line with the surroundings and natural environment.

Al limitare di un bosco di abeti e larici, in un paese di montagna autentico, gli architetti dello Studio FASE AA di Milano hanno realizzato una ristrutturazione edilizia di grande valore.

L’oggetto dell’intervento di riqualificazione e ampliamento è una villa unifamiliare degli anni ‘60 sita in Val Ayas, Valle d’Aosta. Considerato l’inserimento del corpo di fabbrica all’interno di un’area verde di particolare bellezza naturalistica, le scelte progettuali sono state finalizzate a rendere l’immobile parte integrante del paesaggio circostante. Le montagne, i boschi e i prati indicano inequivocabilmente un percorso materico preciso: il legno e la pietra, due materiali che diventano elementi fondativi, di rivestimento per gli esterni e gli interni, rappresentando nel contempo un ponte ideale tra la contemporaneità dell’intervento e la tradizione del costruire in montagna. Mantenendo l’impianto originario, ad eccezione di alcune variazioni di sagoma e foro metriche, in esterno il progetto si è concretizzato sul recupero delle proporzioni del passato, la genuinità dei materiali, delle lavorazioni artigiane, il calore del legno e l’eleganza della pietra fino ai più piccoli dettagli di finitura.

Il rivestimento con Murogeopietra® dona identità e concretezza al volume della struttura. I progettisti hanno potuto comporre una miscela personalizzata di pietra per raccontare tutta la spontaneità della muratura alpina, scegliendo tra decine di modelli e tonalità e infinite possibilità di combinazione. La posa magistrale e la lavorazione “piena” della malta in tonalità, concorrono al superbo risultato.

Gli spazi interni sono stati modificati, ideando distribuzioni completamente diverse da quelle esistenti e associando forme e geometrie moderne al fascino senza tempo dei rivestimenti in legno, dove maestria ed eccellenza presentano la firma di Valente costruzioni. Elementi architettonici tipici, come il tetto in scandole e le lunghe balconate in legno, completano la messa in opera dello chalet e suscitano un’immediata serenità. Gli architetti, attraverso un linguaggio maturo, colto ed espressivo, sono riusciti a coniugare tecnica ed estetica, in un segno formale aggiornato in grado di conservare, trasformare e migliorare l’esistente nel rispetto dell’intorno edilizio e dell’ambiente naturale.
