Delta House | Façade Architecture
Pátrai / Greece / 2019
The design proposal concerns a two-storey house in the suburb Agyia of Patras. A point of reference for the composition was the exploitation of the view offered opposite the plot, where greenery and natural planting dominate.
The synthetic idea was based on the geometrical and spatial relation of two prisms, that structure the building. More specifically, the building consists of two volumes, placed one on top of the other on the vertical axis. The upper volume seems to have been slipped and penetrated into the lower one. As a result, this spatial relation of the two prisms create a new visual condition for passers-by;the upper prism seems to be moving and crushing the lower one.
The function of the spaces corresponds to the orientation of the plot, as the main areas of the building are located on its NE and SE side, while all the secondary-auxiliary spaces are being structured mainly on the north side. The functions are also divided by level (daytime areas on the ground floor -overnight spaces on the first floor).
