La Vetta | Park Associati

The new La Vetta residential building is part of a large real estate development in Andermatt, a ski resort in the heart of the Swiss Alpine passes, and is the result of a collaboration between the Zurich studio Slik Architekten and Park Associati, which were involved in the design of its interiors.

A reflection on the cultural common thread between traditional Italian and Swiss Alpine architectures, the project studied their distinguishing construction methods and materials - patterns and colours - interpreting them with a contemporary twist. The architectures of Carlo Mollino and Edoardo Gellner are the inspiration for the design of the interiors, which are interpreted and redesigned through a combination of tradition and modernity, an adaptation of traditional architectural styles to today's context, and the integration of modern and functional design elements.

Spread over the six floors of the building, the apartments feature different layouts, from three-room apartments to penthouses. The latter are located on the top floors and offer bright double-height environments overlooking the alpine landscape.

The carefully chosen materials based on their tactile as well as their durability properties, the study of three-colour palettes inspired by alpine vegetation and the design of custom-made furnishing elements create harmonious, sophisticated environments that blend a typically alpine atmosphere with the iconic shapes of great Italian design.

Wood, used for both flooring and panelling, is curved to smooth wall corners, thus creating unexpectedly soft, fluid spaces. Choosing the right type of wood and finish takes into account climatic as well as aesthetic factors.

All fixed furnishings – from bedroom storage to the kitchen units – were designed, as were the products – both furnishings and accessories – that convey the value of Italian craftsmanship, the quality of materials and attention to detail. A pure expression of the lever concept, the Leva handle by Dnd is characterised by a sharp yet harmonious and comfortable style. The Tar-sio dining table produced by Rubinacci was designed by reinterpreting in a contemporary key the old craft of inlaying. The wooden chair by Potocco chosen for the dining area, while small in size does not compromise on comfort, thanks to its enveloping backrest and upholstered seat.

The attention paid to every project's detail also covered the choice of furnishing elements, from textiles to accessories, which are refined and joyful icons and a reference to the history of Italian design.

The building's ground floor was reserved for communal areas, and features full-height doors and windows that emphasise and expand the spaces, putting them in direct contact with the context of the new village.

The Ski Room and Bike Room are characterized by a high-tech contemporary touch through the use of materials conveying an energetic feel, such as steel and the rubber-coated non-slip flooring. Functionality does not however impair the aesthetic impact of these spaces, which are both technical and elegant, and feature wood-panelled walls that soften the perception of the environments. In the Fitness and Spa areas, on the other hand, a local Swiss stone was used for walls and floors to define a homogeneous and enveloping casing, completed by a ceiling coated with oak wood slats that generates a relaxing atmosphere.

To complete this project, where great attention to detail was given to each single element, a wayfinding system was designed for the communal spaces, the signs' graphics showing the paths and functions of the different areas.

Il nuovo edificio residenziale La Vetta è parte di un ampio sviluppo immobiliare che interessa Andermatt, località sciistica nel cuore dei passi alpini svizzeri, ed è frutto della collaborazione tra lo studio zurighese Slik Architekten e Park Associati, che si è occupato della progettazione degli ambienti interni.

Il progetto riflette sul fil rouge culturale tra le architetture tradizionali alpine italiane e quelle svizzere, andando a studiarne i metodi costruttivi e i materiali -pattern e colori - che le contraddistinguono, interpretandoli in chiave contemporanea. La suggestione per la progettazione degli interni sono le architetture di Carlo Mollino e Edoardo Gellner, che vengono lette e ripensate fondendo tradizione e modernità, attraverso l'adattamento di stili architettonici tradizionali al contesto odierno, e l'integrazione di elementi di design moderni e funzionali. 

Gli appartamenti, che si articolano sui sei piani dell’edificio, sono pensati in diverse tipologie, dal trilocale alla penthouse. Queste ultime, posizionate agli ultimi piani, offrono ambienti luminosi a doppia altezza che si affacciano sul panorama alpino.

La scelta calibrata dei materiali basata su considerazioni tattili oltre che di durevolezza, lo studio di tre palette di colori ispirate alla vegetazione alpina, e la progettazione di elementi di arredo su misura, danno vita ad ambienti armoniosi e sofisticati in cui l’atmosfera alpina si fonde con le forme iconiche del grande design italiano.

Il legno, utilizzato negli appartamenti come rivestimento a pavimento e per le boiserie, si curva a smussare gli angoli delle pareti, svelando un’inattesa morbidezza e fluidità degli spazi. La scelta dell‘essenza e della finitura del legno tiene conto di fattori climatici oltre che estetici.

Oltre alla progettazione degli arredi fissi -dalle armadiature alla cucina-, l’intervento ha riguardato il disegno di prodotti - arredi e accessori - che raccontano il valore dell’artigianalità italiana, la qualità dei materiali e la cura dei dettagli. La maniglia Leva di Dnd, espressione pura del concetto di leva, caratterizzata da un taglio netto ma armonioso e accogliente. Il tavolo da pranzo Tarsio, prodotto da Rubinacci, disegnato recuperando l’antica arte dell’intarsio, ripensata in chiave contemporanea. La sedia in legno per la zona dining di Potocco, confortevole pur nelle sue dimensioni contenute grazie allo schienale avvolgente e alla seduta imbottita.

L’attenzione ad ogni dettaglio del progetto ha riguardato anche la scelta degli accessori d’arredo, dal tessile ai complementi, icone raffinate e gioiose al tempo stesso, che riconducono alla storia del design italiano.

Il piano terra dell’edificio è stato riservato alle aree comuni, con porte e finestre a tutt’altezza che enfatizzano e ampliano gli spazi, mettendoli a contatto diretto con il contesto del nuovo borgo.

La Ski Room e Bike Room sono caratterizzate da un’impronta high-tech e contemporanea, grazie all’impiego di materiali dal tono energetico, come l’acciaio e la gomma antiscivolo che riveste il pavimento. La funzionalità non compromette l’impatto estetico di questi spazi, tecnici ed eleganti al tempo stesso, con pareti rivestite di pannelli di legno che ammorbidiscono la percezione degli ambienti. Le aree Fitness e Spa vedono invece l’impiego di una pietra locale svizzera, sia a parete che a pavimento, andando a definire un involucro omogeneo ed avvolgente, completato a soffitto da un rivestimento in lamelle di legno di rovere che genera un’atmosfera rilassante.

A completamento di un progetto in cui ogni elemento è stato curato nei minimi dettagli, per gli spazi comuni è stato disegnato il wayfinding, la grafica della segnaletica che indica i percorsi e le funzioni delle diverse aree.
