Casa Descadrell | Symbiose Architecture d'Intérieur & Design

Located in the heart of the Villeneuve village, just a few meters from the lake, an old cellar showing traces of the past was transformed and renovated into a loft and architecture studio.

Taking care to integrate into the built and historical context of the Villeneuvois village, the project seeks to create a dialogue between the pre-existing elements, the memory of the site, and the new intervention. This new intervention aims to enhance the identity of traditional Catalan architecture by reappearing the river stone and cayrou covered under the old plaster, recovering the original openings, preserving the characteristic elements of the building, and using raw, silent materials.

Present in the form of an imposing traditional framework, wood is used
for all joinery. The existing visual of the rafters and brickwork of the under-roof is preserved. At the southern end, part of the roof is removed to create an open-air patio with a view of the Albères mountain range. With its double height, this intimate space, where time seems to stand still, connects the architecture studio on the first floor to the first floor, intended for the main living area.

Soucieux de son intégration dans le contexte bâti et historique du village Villeneuvois, le projet cherche à créer un dialogue entre les éléments préexistants, la mémoire du lieu et la nouvelle intervention. Cette nouvelle intervention vise à mettre en valeur l'identité de l'architecture traditionnelle catalane en faisant apparaître la pierre de rivière et le cayrou, en récupérant les ouvertures d'origine, en conservant les éléments caractéristiques de la bâtisse et en utilisant des matériaux bruts et silencieux.

À l'extrémité Sud, une terrasse offre une vue dégagée sur la chaîne des Albères. Le patio, espace intime où le temps semble s'arrêter, relie par sa double hauteur le studio du rez-de-chaussée à l'étage, dédié à l'habitation principale.

L’intervention se veut respectueuse de son environnement bâti. Elle cherche à mettre en valeur la construction traditionnelle de l’ancienne grange : ses poutres en bois massif, ses murs en pierre et en brique sont conservés. Les caractéristiques de matérialité, forme et dimension, de la pierre et du cayrou lui confèrent un caractère unique et différent. Ce patrimoine architectural, fruit d’un savoir-faire d’antan, mérite d’être préservé en utilisant les techniques adéquates pour que son essence et son identité perdurent dans le temps. Ainsi les façades Nord et Ouest seront rénovées pour retrouver la pierre et le cayrou d'origine.
