A 1100sq.ft. 2bhk is a home for a young couple nestled in Pune, which is designed with calm and muted colors to make it look spacious and warm and suit their personalities.

It's celebrated for its open floor plan that seamlessly integrates with abundant natural light and ventilation and good greens around. The client's vision for their home was to have a warm, soothing, calming, and cozy atmosphere, our design approach harmoniously merges Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian simplicity, creating the distinctive Japandi style. It is characterized by clean lines, and minimalistic aesthetics hence the name Kanso.

The initial layout had living and dining areas together which made the living room small. Hence this challenge of a small space inspired us to create an atmosphere that feels open and spacious. To achieve this, we opted for a muted color palette, featuring soft, neutral tones that enhance the sense of airiness and visual continuity. The muted colors serve as a backdrop, allowing our carefully selected wall art to shine as a focal point, adding personality and character to the space. Additionally, we incorporated an intriguing and captivating light fixture that provides practical illumination and a captivating point of interest, drawing the eye upward and contributing to the illusion of height and space. Together, these design choices transform the living room into a cozy yet visually expansive environment, where every element complements the others, resulting in a harmonious and inviting space.

Moving on to the dining area, the design offers a unique blend of functionality and aesthetics. By seamlessly integrating the terrace into the dining space, we've enhanced the connection between the living room and dining area. A central design feature that truly elevates this space is the circular cutout in the wall between the kitchen and dining room. This innovative element facilitates connectivity and provides additional conversational space, fostering a sense of togetherness during meals.

Locating the dining area on the balcony allows a captivating view of the lush greenery outside, infusing the space with life and vitality. The dining table, crafted entirely from wood, adds a natural warmth to the setting, and the chairs with woven seats further enhance the connection to nature. The warm wood tones create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making this dining area a perfect spot for family gatherings and shared moments. This design concept marries functionality and aesthetics, resulting in a dining area that is not only visually appealing but also highly practical and connected to its natural surroundings.

The Master bedroom design embodies the principles of simplicity and functionality inspired by the Wabi-Sabi and Japandi philosophies. We made a thoughtful transformation by converting the attached balcony into a spacious walk-in wardrobe, optimizing storage while expanding the bedroom itself.

The in-built niches were repurposed, one into a study nook and the other into additional storage, maximizing the utility of every corner.

The bedroom exudes elegance with its soft, muted color palette, creating a calming and tranquil atmosphere. The centerpiece is a plush, understated headboard that invites relaxation and comfort. Round bedside lights offer gentle illumination and a touch of minimalistic sophistication. This simplicity in design and emphasis on functionality aligns perfectly with the  Japandi principles, promoting the idea of embracing imperfection, minimalism, and the beauty of simple living. Thus the result is a master bedroom that not only feels spacious and serene but also embodies a harmonious blend of aesthetics and purpose.

The guest bedroom embraces simplicity and functionality. This room is intentionally minimalistic, allowing a cluster of carefully curated wall art to take center stage, creating a captivating focal point. However, the standout feature of this bedroom is the full-length mirror with a wooden border which is positioned strategically, it not only serves its practical purpose but also reflects the entire living space, visually expanding the room and making it appear more spacious. This thoughtful addition not only enhances the aesthetics of the guest bedroom but also adds a touch of versatility and openness, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment for our guests.

This elegant simplicity of the Japandi style extends to our bathrooms, where sleek black sanitary fittings add a modern touch of sophistication, ensuring a cohesive design theme throughout the entire home.
