Located in the traditional Madrid neighborhood of Chamberí, in the surroundings of Santander Park, a new layout is planned for this 120m2 apartment. The emphasis lies in the need for open and interconnected spaces, with a unified materiality, to create a tranquil atmosphere within the hustle and bustle of the city.

The housing scheme is structured through two perpendicular axes that organize it, achieving a clear separation between the daytime and nighttime areas. These axes are custom-made pieces of bleached oak veneer furniture, each serving different functions and organizing the project into two main spaces, also acting as guides for movement.

On one hand, there's the communal area (comprising an entrance hall, living-dining room, and kitchen-laundry), where maximum use of natural light from both facades is sought, due to the apartment's elevated position. This area is articulated by a more fragmented axis parallel to the facade, where each of the rooms that compose it are visually connected, yet with the option to delineate them from one another, either through a set of movable panels, a door integrated into a custom-made piece of furniture, or through a low element whose function is to accompany in the journey while allowing constant dialogue between spaces, and benefiting from both the light from the South face in the living room and that which comes from the kitchen area. The kitchen area, in particular, can be completely opened or isolated from the rest of the communal area, as it also has three sliding doors that allow for the blurring of boundaries according to needs. It maintains the same common material denominator as the rest of the dwelling, also including a central piece that combines wood and stone and functions as a table and work island.

Meanwhile, the other axis perpendicular to the facade encompasses the living room, also serves the suite bedroom, concludes the route of the common area, and conceals a movable panel that allows for the isolation of the private area. When retracted, it reveals the continuity towards the bedroom area through the threshold of light generated when the pivoting door of the suite bedroom is kept open.
