Designed as an experiment House Y was built only from prefabricated concrete walls, layed out as sandwich walls to not disturb the concrete surfaces inside and outside.
It is a single self-supporting roof for over 200m² with no pre-planned walls inside, so the building could always grow with the needs of its inhabitants, by creating new drywalls, delete old drywalls and so forth.
Heart of the house is a huge showroom-space as the builder wanted to show one or two of his cars and even more sought after living together with them as a piece of art and reminders of joyful experiences.
The building climate was needed to be regulated without any technical help, and so only natural air-flow, concrete mass and canopy roofs regulate temperature and moisture inside. Due to the wish of keeping a low profile the building is layered softly in the surrounding hills and therefore it might happen that deers and other wild animals walk over the roof as a natural habitat.
Additionally it is heated and cooled by concrete activation with a geothermal heat pump.
