The famous Chinese poet, Du Xunhe once described Suzhou in his poem ‘See a Friend Off to Wu’ as a city that is ‘by the harbor with many little bridges’. We incorporate the elements extracted from ‘city of water’ into the ‘gift’ theme, so as to present Chow Tai Fook's experience store in Suzhou with a unique local style.

Water usually flows under our feet, but we ‘moved’ the river in Suzhou to the ceiling. The appearance of the green boat manifests itself as the ripple patterns that appear after droplets drop into the river. The section of the ceiling imitates the rippling, ups and downs of the river surface, which is presented with a curvy silver material and extends to the wall. The treatment of the mirror surface further restores the unique visual experience of the ‘city of water’.

In the ‘gift-themed’ series, we would always use the element of a ‘gift box’, which is mainly reflected on the wall in this project. In order to show the ripples left behind by the boat after passing through the water, we made different patterns of ripples for each ‘gift box’. Combined with the shimmering walls around it, it seems like these gift boxes filled with jewels are floating effortlessly. Green and silver are the main colors of the overall space, which fully reflects the tranquil atmosphere and elegant aesthetics of Suzhou, as the ‘city of water’.
